Foreign dancers compete in Hanoi’s international open dancesport championships

The championships witnesses the participation of dancers from Vietnam and 12 countries and territories worldwide. They compete across four categories, including international open standard adult, international open Latin adult, open standard youth, and open Latin youth. A couple from the Czech Republic are among the first athletes to participate in the tournament. Dancers from the Republic of Korea put on a Latin performance at the competition. A performance put on by Vietnamese couple Hoang Duc Tuan and Do Phuong Uyen in the international open Latin adult category Dmitri Kolobov and Signe Busk of Denmark come first in the international open standard adult category. Japanese dancers Hiroaki Onishi and Sakina Onishi rank fifth in the international open Latin adult category. Da Nang welcomes first 171 foreign passengers from Taipei

The flight departs from Taipei (China) at 7:35 a.m. before landing in Da Nang at 9:25 a.m. on October 28. The resumption of direct flights from Taipei (China) to Da Nang represents a good signal for the central city’s tourism sector as it strives to increase the number of tourists in the future, according to the Da Nang Tourism Promotion Centre. Cham Brahman people celebrates Kate festival

Visitors to the event, which is taking place from October 23-25 this year, can witness rituals such as the genie’s costume procession, the opening of tower gates, and genie statue bathing. They also have a chance to enjoy performances of local Gi Nang drum and Saranai horn. Falling on the first day of the seventh month of the Cham calendar, Kate is the biggest festival in the year of the Cham Brahman people. It reminds the ethnic Brahman community of their ancient gods and delivers wishes for bumper harvests and the growth of all beings. There are more than 53,700 Cham Brahman people in Ninh Thuan who live mainly in the districts of Ninh Phuoc, Thuan Nam, Thuan Bac and Ninh Hai, and Phan Rang-Thap Cham city. The Kate Festival was recognised as a national intangible cultural heritage by the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism in 2017. The vote for the Best National Costume segment was announced on October 23 via the pageant’s fan page. Moving forward, contestants will continue to compete for the “Best National Costume” award, with the winner being unveiled in the grand finale on October 25. Ministry urges verification of Nguyen Dynasty antiques to be auctioned in France

According to a release published on its website, the French auction house, founded in 1928, will put up for auction 329 antiques at 11am on October 31 (Paris time). Two among them were said to be from the last Vietnamese feudal dynasty Nguyen Dynasty (1802-1945). They are a golden seal cast in 1823 during the reign of King Minh Mang (1820-1841) and a golden bowl dating back to the reign of King Khai Dinh (1917-1925). The ministry’s Department of Cultural Heritage said that if the seal was the ‘Hoang de chi bao (Emperor’s Treasure)’, it had been used for public and political activities of the country throughout a historical period and carried significant historical and cultural values. US Peace Corps Volunteers Teaching English in Hanoi

Source: US’s embassy in Vietnam The Peace Corps on October 27 welcomed its first ever cohort of 10 volunteers to Vietnam, as part of an agreement on English teaching of the Peace Corps programme based on the Vietnam-US framework agreement signed in 2016. These volunteers will serve in secondary schools throughout the districts of Hanoi beginning in January 2023, after 10 weeks of comprehensive training to build the cultural understanding and skills necessary to work effectively in Vietnam’s educational system.
