The Magic of Vietnamese Tourism Unveiled at Qatar International Tourism Fair 2024

Staff at Vietnam’s exhibition booth were kept busy. From November 25-27, the Doha Convention and Exhibition Center in Qatar played host to the third Qatar International Tourism Fair, an event that attracted over 300 exhibitors from more than 60 countries. With the theme “Discovering Places, People, and Culture,” the fair showcased travel, tourism, and hospitality companies, as well as embassy booths, drawing around 12,000 visitors. Among the participants was the Vietnamese Embassy in Qatar, which seized the opportunity to exhibit Vietnam’s diverse tourism offerings. Tailoring their presentation to the interests of Qatari and Gulf tourists, they promoted everything from cultural and resort tourism to nature escapes and culinary delights. A report by the FIFA Sub-Committee on Human Rights & Social Responsibility addressed a request from the Norwegian Football Federation (NFF) at the FIFA Congress regarding compensating workers involved in constructing Qatar’s World Cup stadiums. FIFA recently announced a $50 million legacy fund for social programs but faced criticism from Amnesty International for not directly addressing the families of migrant workers who faced exploitation or death during the construction process. While the Middle Eastern country has denied allegations of worker exploitation, the report acknowledges that some workers have not received adequate remediation for their contributions to the successful FIFA World Cup Qatar 2022.
