Vietnam’s Weather Update (March 2): Increasing Intensity of Cold Spells in the North

The morning will bring drizzle and fog to the Northeast and North Central regions. Meanwhile, the Northwest region will enjoy sunny weather in the afternoon.

In the evening and at night, the Northeast region will be affected by stronger cold air compared to the North Central region. The inland Northeast wind will gradually strengthen to level 3, while coastal areas will experience winds of level 4-5.

During this cold air wave, the lowest temperatures in the Northeast will range from 10 to 13 degrees, while the Northern mountainous areas will experience temperatures of 7-10 degrees. In the mountainous areas, temperatures can drop below 5 degrees.

Starting from the morning of March 1-3, there will be light rain, scattered showers, and thunderstorms in some places from Quang Binh to Khanh Hoa. During thunderstorms, tornadoes, lightning, hail, and strong winds are possible.

The meteorological agency is warning about strong winds and large waves at sea, which may affect the operation of ships and other activities. Severe and harmful cold weather can also impact livestock and poultry, as well as the development of plants.

In the South Central region, the Central Highlands, and the South, there will be showers in some places in the evening and at night. However, the weather will be sunny during the day, especially in the Southeast region.

Weather forecast in different regions

Northwest region: The weather forecast predicts cloudy and rainy conditions in the morning and afternoon, with scattered thunderstorms within the region. The lowest temperatures will range from 12 to 15 degrees, with some places dipping below 12 degrees. The highest temperatures will range from 16 to 19 degrees.

Northeast region: The weather is expected to be cloudy with drizzle and fog in the morning, followed by light rain in the afternoon and night. The weather will be freezing, especially in the mountainous areas. The lowest temperatures will be around 10-13 degrees, while the highest temperatures will be in the range of 14-17 degrees, with some mountainous areas dropping below 15 degrees.

Thanh Hoa – Thua Thien Hue: The weather will be cloudy with drizzle and fog in the morning, accompanied by a north to northwest wind at level 2-3. The lowest temperatures will be around 15-18 degrees in the North and 18-20 degrees in the South. The highest temperatures will range from 19-21 degrees in the North and 23-25 degrees in the South.

Da Nang – Binh Thuan: The weather will be cloudy and rainy in the morning, and sunny in the afternoon. The lowest temperatures will be around 20-22 degrees in the North and 23-25 degrees in the South. The highest temperatures will range from 28-31 degrees, with some places exceeding 31 degrees.

The Central Highlands: The weather is expected to be cloudy and sunny during the day, with showers in the evening and night. The lowest temperatures will range from 18-21 degrees, while the highest temperatures will reach 29-32 degrees.

The Southern region: The weather will be cloudy and sunny during the day, with showers in the evening and night. The wind will blow from the northeast to the east at level 2-3. The lowest temperatures will be around 24-27 degrees, while the highest temperatures will reach 32-35 degrees.

Weather forecast in big cities

Hanoi: The weather forecast predicts cloudy and rainy conditions during the day, with drizzles and fog in the morning. The lowest temperatures will range from 11-13 degrees, while the highest temperatures will reach 15-17 degrees.

Ho Chi Minh City: According to the National Center for Hydro-Meteorological Forecasting, the weather in the Ho Chi Minh City area will be cloudy, hot, and sunny during the day, with no rain at night. The temperature will fluctuate between 35-37 degrees, which is 1 degree higher compared to previous days. The relative humidity will range from 39-54%, and the cloud density will range from 17-51%.

Da Nang: According to the National Center for Hydro-Meteorological Forecasting, the weather in the Da Nang area will be partly cloudy, with showers at night and sunny during the day. The temperature will fluctuate between 29-30 degrees, which is 2 degrees higher compared to the previous day. The relative humidity will range from 68-72%, and the cloud density will range from 18-26%.
