A close look at the stunning natural rock pools of Vietnam

These rock pools are often full of saltwater and are surrounded by rocky cliffs. Tourists are able to snap nice photos at these unique places without the need to fly abroad in search of such beautiful places. Taiwanese movies to be screened in Hanoi

The event is organised by the  Taipei Economic and Cultural Office in Vietnam , the Vietnam National Institute of Culture and Arts Studies (VICAS), and the Centre for Assistance and Development of Movie Talents (TPD). The films to be screenedinclude award-winning works of Chinese Taipei’s filmmakers in recent years. These films are all part of the Taiwan Cinema Toolkit (TCT) – a project to curate, store and provide data about  Taiwanese films  to serve the non-profit cultural promotion activities organised by the Taiwan Film and Audiovisual Institute. Three films are being introduced for three weeks from June 27 to July 11 within the Taiwan Film Salon programme held at VICAS and TPD to attract more people to the art of filmmaking as well as the human values reflected in the works. Shan tea gives people a means to escape from poverty

Pac Cung hamlet in Thuong Nong commune, Na Hang district, Tuyen Quang province is home to 8 ha of shan tea trees, many of which are from 30 to 36 years old. Their leaves are large and thick and have a strong flavour as the trees are grown at an altitude of 800-1,000 metres above sea level. With four harvests each year and a stable sales price of around 14 USD per kilo, tea trees have become key to the San Chi ethnic minority people in Pac Cung hamlet escaping from poverty. Technical barriers and limited traffic infrastructure, however, still hinder local people from taking full advantage of growing tea. Na Hang district has over 1,100 shan tea trees, cared for by 15 local households along with companies and cooperatives. With a view to providing sustainable incomes by improving quality, local authorities have also been encouraging people to produce tea under standardised processing procedures. Women’s Club promote Vietnamese cultural heritages

During the club’s launching ceremony, chairwoman Dr. Dang Thi Bich Lien underscored the importance of preserving and exploiting cultural heritage in a sustainable manner. She said the launch of the club will greatly contribute to protecting and promoting Vietnamese cultural values. The 44-year-old, who lives with his elderly father and stepmother in an alley in Vinh Long City, the province’s capital, has a speech impairment in addition to his facial disfigurement and many health issues, which has led people to give him the nickname ‘Ba Lep.’ Because of his facial deformity and speech impairment, Hien often finds that many people do not want to talk to him, especially young children who are put off by his appearance. “Only birds feel comfortable in my presence,” Hien said with some effort. HCM City to provide all public services online at level 4 by 2030

In the first quarter of 2020, Ho Chi Minh City’s authorities provided 668 online public administrative services at levels 3 and 4 in various fields, and more than 80 percent of local residents and organisations said they were satisfied with the services. According to the city’s Department of Home Affairs, district and commune-level administrative units handled more than 84 million documents online in the last five years. On average, more than 16 million documents were handled online each year. The rate of documents processed on time reached 97.5 – 99.9 percent. Since 2017, processing time for administrative documents fell by 30-50 percent. About 99 percent of total administrative documents were done online on time. The city is also striving to universalize 4G and 5G mobile networks and smart phones./. Five airports close ahead of Storm Vamco

The move followed the request of the Ministry to Transport to ensure safety for the aviation sector during Storm Vamco. Aviation authorities decided to close Chu Lai Airport in Quang Nam province from 9 am today, November 14 to 10 am tomorrow and Danang International Airport from 12 pm today to 10 am tomorrow. Meanwhile, the closure time for Phu Bai and Dong Hoi airports will be from 2 pm today to 10 am tomorrow and Vinh Airport will be banned for being operated between 6 am to 8 pm on Sunday. National flag carrier Vietnam Airlines have cancelled many flights to these five airports today. Vietnam Airlines and Pacific Airlines have conducted many flights from and to the closed airports from one to 11 hours earlier than scheduled today. Methanol poisoning claims one death and six others hospitalized in Bac Giang

The Poison Control Center under Bach Mai Hospital in Hanoi confirmed it had received a male patient who was in a deep coma with dilated pupils and hypotension on November 3. A test showed that his blood methanol concentration was 141mg/dL, which resulted in severe metabolic acidosis, while his CT scan revealed serious diffuse brain damage. As his condition did not improve despite doctors’ efforts, the family decided to take him home so that he could pass away among family members. According to the patient’s family, he purchased alcohol from a local grocery store three days prior to his death. He drank the liquor with three other people and started having a headache on the following day, before falling into a coma. The patient was admitted to the provincial-level hospital and was later transferred to the Poison Control Center in Hanoi.
