With a total investment of nearly VND30 billion (US$1.2 million) funded by the district, the project aims to enhance the area’s infrastructure, improve stormwater management, and boost the aesthetic appeal of the urban landscape.

To create a vibrant and welcoming atmosphere, the district authorities plan to introduce a range of new services and amenities in the Ngoc Khanh Lake area. This includes paving roads, sidewalks, and promenades with stones, as well as increasing the number of trees to ensure a density of one tree per 5m2. Benches, trash cans, public toilets, lighting, and a pedestrian street welcome gate will also be installed.

The pedestrian mall is scheduled to open before October 10, coinciding with the 70th anniversary of Hanoi’s Liberation Day. This will be the second pedestrian mall in the district and the seventh in the city, following the successful launch of five major pedestrian streets from 2016 to 2022 in Hoan Kiem, Hai Ba Trung, Ba Dinh, Tay Ho, and Son Tay districts.

The development of pedestrian-friendly zones is a key component of the City Party Committee’s Program No. 3 on Urban Remodeling, Development, and Economic Growth for 2021-2025. This initiative aims to make Hanoi a more livable and attractive destination for residents and visitors alike.
